About this event
This sharp satire on phone-sales work, race, corporate greed, and the absurdities of capitalist culture follows Cassius Green (Lakeith Stanfield), a struggling young Black man who lands a job as a telemarketer. With help from veteran co-worker Langston (Danny Glover), Cassius discovers the secret to making big sales. But his sudden success draws him into a series of increasingly wild events that test his loyalty to his friends, coworkers, and his own principles—while revealing his employer’s disturbing vision of the future. As director Boots Riley describes it, the film is “an absurdist dark comedy with magical realism and science fiction inspired by the world of telemarketing.” (Note courtesy Rochester Labor Film Series)
