The Moonstone Community Center in Philadelphia is doing a celebration of Joe Hill in remembrance of his execution in Utah 110 years ago, on November 19. 1915. The poet and songwriter of the Industrial Workers of the World (actually one of a few), Hill was convicted of murder and the armed robbery of a shopkeeper - a crime he denied was his. Penning such classics as "The Preacher and the Slave", Joe Hill attached new lyrics to well-known hymns and other songs. His famous last words have been boiled down to "Don't Mourn, Organize", a rallying cry for the labor movement across the globe ever since.
