The MotorCities Awards of Excellence honor individuals, events and projects that preserve, interpret and promote Michigan’s automotive heritage. The 2026 winners will be announced October 1 in Livonia, Michigan.
The latest staging of Forgotten: The Murder at the Ford Rouge Plant was presented at Detroit’s Marygrove Theatre in October 2025. Directed by Elise Bryant with Bill Meyer as music director, the jazz/blues opera tells the stories of Michigan workers who organized and built the labor movement during the 1930s, portraying the Ford Hunger March, the Battle of the Overpass, the Flint sit-down strike and more.
A professionally produced recording of the revival will be screened at Wayne State University on October 14.
