The Peter McGuire Memorial
Pennsauken, NJ
The United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America dedicated this memorial to their founder, Peter McGuire, in 1962. McGuire was also the first secretary of the American Federation of Labor and may have been the founder of Labor Day (some contend that the holiday was actually founded by the Secretary of New York’s Central Labor Union, Matthew Maguire.)
