If you’re planning out the films you want to take in at this year’s DC Labor FilmFest, there’s one more to add to your list.
ATU 689 and NoVA Labor are sponsoring a free screening of the documentary film We Fought For What We Have at the Shirlington Busboys and Poets on Wednesday, May 27th at 6:00 PM. Ginny Diamond will moderate a Q&A panel after the screening.
The documentary chronicles ATU 689 members' rediscovery of their union's history as an organizing, fighting, and striking union and features interviews with long time members, archival footage from the early 20th century, and live captured footage of countless organizing campaigns.
Though this screening of We Fought For What We Have is free, reservations are recommended. Dinner service will be available throughout the program and there will be a curated selection of books about historic labor movements available for purchase at a 10% discount (for this event only.)
