In recent days, musicians — from independent artists to legends like Bruce
Springsteen — have responded to the pain, outrage, and resilience coming out of Minneapolis with new songs and powerful reinterpretations of old ones. Some of these tracks are angry, some are mournful, all are deeply moving — and together they form a chorus of solidarity.
Music has always been part of movements for justice. In moments of crisis, it helps us grieve, name what’s wrong, and imagine what could be. The songs in this special edition reflect that tradition, lifting up the voices of people demanding dignity, safety, and accountability — and reminding us that culture and struggle move together.
Below you’ll find a growing playlist of recent releases and protest songs honoring the people of Minneapolis and those standing with them around the country.
Please, share the songs -- and this newsletter -- widely! if someone shared this with you, sign up free here; we sing more powerfully when we sing together.
And if you know of a song we should add to this list, please send it to us — either by replying to this newsletter or by emailing info@laborheritage.org. We’d love to keep this playlist growing with your help.
In solidarity,
Chris
