Workers at the Natural History Museum and La Brea Tar Pits have officially unionized, forming the
Natural History Museum & La Brea Tar Pits Workers Union (NHMTPWU) through AFSCME District Council 36.
With 70% of employees signing union cards, the group won formal recognition and will now begin negotiating their first contract.
“I’m so proud of the work we have done as workers to organize our union,” said Guest Associate Raquel Cornejo. “We hope to begin the process of negotiating our contract soon.”
The union joins a growing movement of cultural workers organizing across Los Angeles and nationwide. Read more.
