Workers at the nonfiction entertainment arm of RadicalMedia are seeking to organize with the Writers Guild of America East (WGAE).
RadicalMedia’s entertainment group has produced documentary titles such as “Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised),” “Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich,” “What Happened, Miss Simone?” and “Hollywood Black.” The workers decided to organize in order to establish union contract language governing pay, benefits and working conditions. They also want to negotiate over “dark weeks,” furloughs and layoffs, creating new professional advancement opportunities, and facilitating open and honest communication with management.
“Nonfiction television and film workers deserve contracts worthy of their hard work and the enormous value they bring to their sector of the entertainment industry,” said WGAE President Lisa Takeuchi Cullen.
